Manatee and Sarasota County Gas Prices Rising to $3.50 a Gallon\
Gas went up 12 cents a gallon last week, leaving drivers paying an average of $3.35, which is only one cent less than last year’s highest price per gallon.
This week, 2/1/22.... it appears that another 10-15 cent per gallon increase is here, as many stations on the Suncoast are now at $3.49 a gallon
So far this year, the U.S. price for crude oil has increased 15%.

AAA says crude oil prices have a huge impact on the price of gas. About half of gas prices are based on the price of oil because it's such a key ingredient in gasoline.
In 2021, oil prices were up by as much as 78 percent, leading to a $1.17 rise in gas prices
