River Road Construction Project to Include a Signalized U-Turn at Center Rd

Something new, may be coming to Suncoast Roads. As part of the $47 Million Widening Construction Project of River Road in Venice. A signalized U-Turn.

It will work like this... If you are a northbound vehicle on River Road, you will not be able to make a left-hand turn at Center Road to head west.

Instead, vehicles must travel north of the Center Road intersection to a "signalized U-turn" where they will have to make a U-turn and then travel south on River Road, then turn west on Center Road.

The traffic signal at the U-turn will also will control a crosswalk for pedestrians.

The Florida Department of Transportation will continue to discuss the $47.5 million widening of River Road between Interstate 75 and U.S. 4, and the new concept, Partial Median U-turn,

The Florida Department of Transportation is taking the public's feedback on the project... Written comments will be accepted via an email form through Feb. 7th, 2022.
