Wreaths Across America at Sarasota National Cemetery to be Dec. 17th & 18th

Wreaths Across America at Sarasota National Cemetery to be December 17th & 18th

There will once again be no formal ceremony, due to COVID for the annual Wreaths Across America event, at our Sarasota National Cemetery. The event will be very similar to last year, only shortened from 3 days, to a 2 day event. .

Friday, December 17th and Saturday, December 18th, at Sarasota National Cemetery, it will be spread over 2 days to allow for COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

All who would like to participate in the wreath-laying must pre-register for a pre-determined time slot.

Once again, families will be given priority for time slots on both days.

Sarasota - Wreaths Across America Coordinator Meshia Richardson shares with me that 17,200 wreaths will be placed at grave sites this year, to honor the service of these Local Heroes .

More than 27,000 service members and spouses – including more than 22,000 veterans – are resting at Sarasota National Cemetery..

When any volunteer places a wreath on a gravesite... either with a loved one or as a volunteer... that person.... says the name of each veteran out loud.... they also ... thank them for their service and sacrifice.

To allow the event to run smoothly, everyone who wishes to lay a wreath at a grave site (even family members) must register for a specific time slot at https://sarasotawreaths.com/2021

It is important to note... each wreath in Sarasota, has been made possible by LOCAL donations... without these donations, there would be NO wreaths to place.

Wreath Sponsorship donations can be made here: https://sarasotawreaths.com/wreath-sponsorship

One wreath IS a $15 tax-deductible donation, or $30 for two.

Sarasota National Cemetery is on Clark Rd. in Sarasota, 4 miles east of I-75. (Address: 9810 State Road 72),
