All Faiths Food Bank Giving Away Thanksgiving Meals Today in Sarasota
We know that Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks. And over the last 18 months, it is especially true. In fact, in 2020, All Faiths Food Bank saw a large increase in the community’s need for its services. The non-profit distributed almost 40-percent more food than it did, the year before the pandemic.
"When food costs go up, which they have, they have really skyrocketed, it has an impact on people who are already food insecure," says Sandra Frank, The Food Bank CEO.
With that in mind… All Faiths is helping with its 16th annual Turkey giveaway at the Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Today, November, 18th, 2021starting at 4 pm.
Staff and volunteers plan to distribute about 13,000 turkeys with sides like potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, and more.
These meals are only for people of Sarasota County who can’t afford to buy a Thanksgiving meal for their families.
Additional turkey distributions are taking place in DeSoto County and through the non-profit’s partner agencies, including school pantries and mobile pantries. You can find this information on its website: . AllFaithsFoodBank.org
