COVID-19 Antibody Testing Now Available For Free to Suncoast Blood Donors
All SunCoast Blood Centers are now offering a free COVID-19 antibody test along with a successful blood donation.
The test does not delineate by level of antibodies but indicates whether someone has the presence of COVID-19 antibodies or not, whether due to a vaccine or because they had contracted COVID-19 at some point.
The process requires no additional blood draw and includes a free wellness check-up of cholesterol, pulse and blood pressure.
Suncoast blood banks ere able to provide this service free to blood donors through a $45,000 grant from the COVID-19 Response Initiative, a partnership between two local Foundation's... the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation and Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
The blood bank is hoping that this FREE antibody test will bring in more blood donors.
Blood donations have been down, since the pandemic began… and there are shortages across the country.
