Oldest Living WWII Veteran Celebrates His 112th Bday in Louisiana

PFC Lawrence Brooks was Born on Sept. 12, 1909, PFC Brooks served in the US Army from 1940 to 1945 as part of the 91st Engineer Battalion

This American Hero, Lawrence Brooks celebrated in style for his 112th birthday. He is America’s oldest living World War II veteran and turned 112 on September 12th and was treated to a drive-by parade at his New Orleans home, thanks to the National World War II Museum.

The Hero was decked out in a Saints jersey and waved to well-wishers from his porch. Brooks also shared some advice for the crowd, telling them to “serve God and be nice to people.”

The Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards, also gave Brooks a birthday shout out on Twitter.

He posted a photo of the two of them, writing, “Mr. Brooks, the entire state of Louisiana thanks you for your service and we all wish you a joyous birthday.”
