Sarasota County Schools will be cracking down on their mask exemption forms

The superintendent has announced changes to their policy.

The exemption form now says it has to be signed by licensed medical doctors, osteopathic physicians or advanced registered nurse practitioners.

The stricter guidelines are now in effect at all Sarasota County schools.

According to the updated policy from Superintendent Brennan Asplen any exemption notes signed by a Venice chiropractor will no longer be accepted, going forward.

School principals sort through these exemption forms every day.

Currently out of the 40,000 students enrolled in Sarasota County public schools, there are about 2,000 kids, turning in these exemption forms.

Sarasota County Schools also say more details will be released later this week, about how they will verify these exemption forms going forward.
