U.S. Census says Sarasota, Manatee Counties Added 131,435 People Over the Past Decade

The Suncoast.... is growing in a big way....

New population data shows Sarasota and Manatee counties increased their official population… by a combined 131,435 people …since the last census in 2010.

The U.S. Census Bureau released the first part of its data from the 2020 census, conducted last year.. The information will be used for everything from drawing boundaries for congressional representation to what products supermarkets will likely stock on their shelves.

In Sarasota, the population increased from 379,488 to 434,006 – an increase of 54,558 people, or 14.4%.

Even more growth happening in Manatee County... as it increased its population by 76,877 from 322,833 in 2010 to 399,710 in 2020 for a 23.8% increase in population.

There are 67 counties in Florida…. Sarasota County is now the 14th most populated county in Florida and Manatee County is the 15th most populous county in the Sunshine State.

In terms of the most populated counties in Florida... The Top 5, looks like this....

  1. Miami-Dade with 2.7 million people 
  2. Broward with1.94 million,
  3. Palm Beach with 1.49 million,
  4. Hillsborough with 1.46 million
  5. Orange with 1.43 million.
