Sarasota Bradenton International Airport Completely Destroys and Breaks Another Passenger Record in June 2021
Sarasota Bradenton International Airport set ANOTHER record for passengers, this past June 2021, as more than 300,000 people passed through the airport gates.
For the month of June 2021, total SRQ passenger traffic, totaled 312,909, they announced last night (7/12/21).
Compared to 52,845 passengers in June 2020, when traffic was way down due to COVID-19 restrictions, this June’s numbers were 492% higher.
Compared to June of 2019, passenger traffic was MORE THAN DOUBLE… 112% higher than the pre-COVID-19 level of 147,615.
In addition... Passenger numbers increased 8% over the previous month of May.
President and CEO of the airport Rick Piccolo, says… “It is exciting to see the airport break the 300,000-passenger level in a single month”. “This has never occurred in the history of the airport and to do so in the summer when we typically see fewer travelers is pretty amazing.”
SRQ has 10 airlines serving 48 nonstop destinations
SRQ has bounced back faster from the COVID-19 pandemic than most airports and is now the fastest growing in the United States.
Traffic the past four months has been the greatest in SRQ history with 277,590 passengers in March, 294,165 in April and 288,551 in May.
Airport officials are scrambling to keep up with new expansion projects.
Southwest Airlines and Allegiant have each announced expanded flights and great deals from SRQ.
