Water Taxi's Could Be Coming to Bradenton & Palmetto, Service to Anna Maria

Parking on out barrier islands can be a struggle. Manatee County is exploring the idea of Water Taxi’s to Anna Maria Island. from the mainland.

In fact new Manatee County Administrator Scott Hopes has asked county staff to begin the process to look into a water taxi program.

The issue of island parking recently became headlines, as the County and Holmes Beach discuss a compromise on adding parking availability.

How would it work....

The plan for a water taxi service would work in both directions... allowing people to board in either Palmetto or Bradenton.... and travel to the Anna Maria City Pier, the Waterline Resort in Holmes Beach and the Bradenton Beach Pier. .The service would also allow island residents and guests to visit both Downtown Bradenton or Palmetto.

Elliott Falcione, Director of the Manatee County Convention & Visitors bureau and his team are working with Manatee County Public Works on the proposal.

Manatee County staff will look into water taxis. Ideally those with a capacity for 35-passengers and those types of vessels that are able to navigate through our ever and quickly changing Florida weather.
