Firefighter Carries Unconscious Husky Down 15 Floors And Saves His Life

Virginia Beach Animal Control shared the wonderful story... As Firefighters and animal control officers rescued a husky from a high-rise apartment building fire in Virginia Beach last Sunday.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department said that the fire took place at an apartment building on 34th Street and Pacific. The fire was up on the 15th floor.

The dog was unconscious when a firefighter found him, but they immediately got him oxygen after carrying him down 15 floors to the street.

The dog quickly became alert and responsive.

The husky, named Igor, was taken to Bay Beach Vet Hospital for further treatment and his owners were notified.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

Today one of our rookies, Officer Frye (in photo) and Officer McQueen responded to 205 34th St. for a fire on the 15th floor. A husky was removed from the fire. Thankfully there were no burns, just smoke inhalation. This pup was unconscious when the fire fighter found him but they immediately got him oxygen when they got him down to the street and the dog became alert and responsive. Our officers then transferred him to Bay Beach Vet Hospital for further treatment and his owners were notified. His name is Igor. What a successful and happy ending! Igor is expected to make a full recovery. He is still on oxygen. Thank you to our Officers and FD
