Brush Fire in Venice on Memorial Day Burns More Than 200 Acres

Fire Crews Spent Most of Memorial Day Battling the Wild Fire at The Carlton Preserve

Venice Residents near Border Road and surrounding areas, saw ash falling through out the day on Memorial Day.

The fire, was a brush fire that began burning Monday (5/31/21) afternoon and it continued into the night Fire crews got the call around 2:30 p.m. about the fire at the Carlton Reserve.

Crews were able to fully contain the fire, around 9 p.m. Fire officials estimate more than 200 acres have been burned.

The good news, no injuries were reported and no structures were damaged from the fire..

However many residents of the area were concerned, aside from ashes from the fire, landing on their homes, vehicles and property... there were other fears since many that live around the location own livestock, from horses, cows, etc... and that ash, from the fire was falling on them as well.

Officials saw that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
