There's a Debate About Changing the Name of Moccasin Wallow Road in Parrish

History being Wiped Away? There is Now a Debate About Changing the Name of Moccasin Wallow Road in Parrish

The major road in the Parrish area is now the subject of a major discussion.

Pat Neal, president of Neal Communities. Says the road is named after a venomous snake. That’s one of the main reasons he wants to change the name of Moccasin Wallow Road, to something else. .

He would like to see it changed to a name like…. "North River Road". Especially since he has a brand new development being built in that area, named… “North River Ranch”.... in Parrish.

Many local Parrish residents are against the name change, as they want to preserve the history of the area… In fact a petition to keep the name has begun, started by some Parrish residents and it now has more than 3,000 signatures.

Parrish has experienced enormous growth in recent years. Neal Communities has built more than 17,000 homes in the Sarasota-Manatee County area, with many of those homes in and around the Parrish area.

What happens next... that would be to have this discussion, in front of Manatee County officials.

If you would like to learn more, sign the petition or support the change... you can reach out to the Parrish Civic Association here: https://www.pcafla.org/
