Sarasota County Announces Most High School Students Will Graduate Outdoors

Outside for Graduation. Sarasota County Schools Announce Most High School Students Will Graduate Outdoors this June

The plan is in for High Schools Seniors in Sarasota County. The Sarasota County School District has announced that seniors from: Booker, Riverview, Sarasota and Suncoast Polytechnical high schools would graduate in ceremonies at the Baltimore Orioles’ spring training home, Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota.

Venice and North Port High schools will use their football stadiums for their ceremonies. 

Oak Park, which has a small graduating class of special-needs students, will honor them at the school’s gymnasium.

Pine View School is in talks with the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall to hold an indoor event limited to 50% capacity,

The outdoor and spaced-out venues will allow for social distancing.

All these ceremonies will take place beginning June 3.

The Sarasota County School District has not yet announced how many tickets each student will receive.

That question, in particular... has been a very hot topic of conversation in Manatee County. As currently, each graduate, will only be allowed two guests. That may change, the School District has said, as we get closer to the actual graduation ceremonies.

In was earlier in March, that the Manatee County School District announced their graduation plan, which will all be outdoors.

Most ceremonies will be taking place at the Pittsburgh Pirates LECOM Park in Bradenton and Manatee High School, holding their ceremony at Hawkins Stadium on it’s campus. .

The Sarasota County High School graduation schedule is as follows. 

Thursday, June 3: 

North Port High at NPHS Football Field at 7:30 p.m.

Suncoast Polytechnical at Ed Smith Stadium at 8 p.m.

Friday, June 4

Oak Park School at OPS Alfred E. “Coach” Kidder Gymnasium at 2 p.m.

Sarasota High at Ed Smith Stadium at 8 p.m.

Venice High at VHS Powell-Davis Stadium at 8 p.m.

Saturday, June 5

Booker High at Ed Smith Stadium at 9 a.m.

Riverview High at Ed Smith Stadium at 8 p.m.

Sunday, June 6

Pine View School at Van Wezel Performing Arts Center at 2 p.m. (tentative)
