The Parking Area on Old 301, on the East Side of The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, Could Get a Huge Upgrade with an Observation Deck

For years, a very popular place to observe aircraft taking off and landing at The Sarasota Bradenton International Airport, is just south of University Parkway, along Old 301 :aka" 15 St. East, on the east side of the SRQ Airport.

It’s a spot with just gravel and grass, along the fence-line of the Airport. Rick Piccolo, the President and CEO of the Sarasota Bradenton International airport, would like to upgrade that area. Especially now that air traffic is happening at a record pace.

In a new joint concept project with Manatee County government, the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority is considering adding a covered observation deck at that location, with paved parking and landscaping.

On Monday (3/22/21), Director Piccolo updated the Airport authority Board on many things, including this potential project and also showed them this rendering by an architect of what the new observation deck and area, could look like.

The airport are still working on getting an agreement on cost and final design, so there is not a timeline for construction, if an agreement is reached.,

This preliminary design would be a cost share project with Manatee County .
