FDOT Approves Two More Sarasota Roundabouts - US 41 at MLK and Myrtle

FDOT grants Location and Design Concept Acceptance for

US 41 Intersection Improvements

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Myrtle Street in Sarasota

BARTOW, Fla.–On December 23, 2020,the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Office of Environmental Management granted Location and Design Concept Acceptance for proposed improvements to, and between, the intersections of US 41 at Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Way and Myrtle Street in the City of Sarasota, Florida.

The proposed improvements consist of partial two-lane roundabouts at the intersections of US 41 at Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Way and US 41 at Myrtle Street with a continuous median and wider sidewalk between the intersections.

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. §327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016, and executed by FHWA and FDOT.

This project is now eligible to move to the next phase of development which is design.
