Firefighters and Paramedics Finish Cutting Grass for Vietnam Veteran Who Collapsed From Heat Exhaustion in Fort Lauderdale

Prince Pinkney, 83, was mowing lawn near his Fort Lauderdale home on Monday (10/12/20). The 91-degree heat took toll as Pinkney started suffering from heat exhaustion. His wife, Rebecca, struggled to help her husband get back on his feet.

A passerby saw Pinkney on the ground and notified first responders. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue dispatched a crew of firemen and paramedics. After treating Pinkney for heat exhaustion, the paramedics cut his grass. They saluted Pinkney for his years of service as a missile technician in Vietnam

After Mr. Pinkney was given treatment and recovered, but the crew would not leave until his lawn was mowed as he intended.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue posted this to their Facebook page:

Monday morning Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Station 47 was dispatched to a pass out. Upon arrival they found an 80 year old Army veteran suffering from heat exhaustion while working in his yard. They immediately treated the man and cooled him off. Once his medical emergency was over the crew stepped in and finish cutting his grass! This is truly what it is all about.
