Manatee Sheriff's Office Warns of New Scam with Callers Looking for Money
Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office want the public to know that they have received multiple reports, within the past week of scammers calling citizens claiming to be an Manatee County Sheriff's Office employee. If no one answers, they will leave a message that directs that person to a fake website to submit payment for fines and other reasons.
To make the call or the message, seem more legitimate, the scammers actually use names of real Manatee County Sheriff's Office employees, on the call and in those messages. They also provide fake call-back numbers. .

If you or anyone you know receives a call or message directing you or anyone to return a call, that isn't registered to The Manatee County Sheriff's Office, or to a website, other than the one listed above.. do not provide payment or personal information... and you should contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
