Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County, Giving Away Free Produce Tomorrow

Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County, Giving Away Free Produce - Each Third Thursday, every month through the remainder of 2020.

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee County will be distributing fresh produce at three locations throughout the county on the third Thursday of each month. Each location is near a Title I school.

Meals on Wheels Plus wants ALL local families in need to take advantage of this program.

Fresh fruits and vegetables can be a luxury for a lot of families right now and Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County wants to help fill that gap.

The non-profit organization has seen an large increase in demand for food, since the pandemic began in March. Since that time, Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee has given out more than half a million meals to over 15,500 families.

The produce distribution came about because of a $30,000 grant from United Way Suncoast.

The distributions will take place on the third Thursday of the month through May at three locations:

  • Visible Men Academy: 921 63rd Ave. East, Bradenton, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Sozo Missions: 3124 17th Street East, Bradenton, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Increasing Joy Ministries: 2515 37th Street East, Palmetto, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

There are no income requirements, and the giveaway is not limited to parents of children enrolled in a public school.

All Manatee County residents are eligible.

It will be done in a safe, drive-thru fashion, limiting contact to keep everyone safe.

All the food that Meals on Wheels PLUS distributes is paid for by grants and donations.

Anyone who would like to donate cash or food items should visit www.mealsonwheelsplus.org
