Lawrence Brooks of New Orleans is the oldest known United States veteran of World War II. And, he just celebrated his 111th birthday.
The celebration, arranged by the National WWII Museum, was, of course, safe and socially distanced. But it was also a good time, with a music group singing several songs for him, a World War II-era aircraft flyover and a car parade.
And, before it was all over, Lawrence received about 10,000 cards from people across the country, wanting to celebrate him -- both for his service and for his incredible accomplishment of making it to this big birthday.
