Mandatory Masks Coming, in Manatee County?
Discussion Happens Today (6/23/20)...
Manatee County’s board of County Commissioners will discuss the possibility at 1 p.m. Today.
Sarasota County currently, does not have plans to discuss requiring masks at this time.
Yesterday (6/22/20) though, Hillsborough County passed an order that will force business owners to require people to wear masks inside their public shops.
The order, which takes effect at 5 p.m. tomorrow (6/24/20), passed 5-3 after lengthy discussions in a virtual meeting of the county's Emergency Policy Group.
With some exceptions for people with medical conditions and children under 2 years old, the order will apply to anyone who can't stay 6 feet from others inside public spaces.
Business owners who don't follow the rules and ensure everyone inside their workplace are covering their faces could face a second-degree misdemeanor charge.
Last week...Monroe County Commissioners voted to require face coverings in all indoor public places until June 2021, throughout the Florida Keys (giving them the option to end the order earlier, if conditions improve).
