CVS Begins Drone Deliveries For Florida Seniors Tuesday, May 5th
CVS pharmacy has giant announced starting next week it will team up with UPS to begin making drone deliveries next week in Florida, beginning with seniors in the Sunshine State.
This will occur with the use oi "UPS Flight Forward", that is UPS;s commercial drone delivery group.
The fist flights will take off with prescriptions from a CVS pharmacy and land at The Villages, in the Orlando area. The Villages is the largest retirement community in the USA. The latest numbers say that The Villages has more than 135,000 residents.
When exactly will this begin?
The first drone delivery will launch Tuesday, May 5th and fly less than half a mile to a ground vehicle that will complete the delivery. This service will use Matternet's M2 drones.
In a statement, UPS said its drones offer a fast delivery option while supporting social-distancing. CVS Pharmacy is also offering free ground delivery of prescriptions and essential products through May 31st..
This isn't a brand new thing. The two companies worked together and completed their first deliveries of medical prescriptions from a CVS pharmacy in Cary, North Carolina back in November of 2019.
