Walmart and Target Now Limiting Customers in Stores Due to Coronavirus

Walmart has joined other stores and announced it's adding new restrictions inside its stores to help promote social distancing and limit the spread of the coronavirus.

The company will allow no more than five customers per 1,000 square feet.... at a given time. This all started this past Saturday (4/4/20)... This new plan for guests, is roughly 20 percent its normal capacity.

Wal Mart Employees will admit customers one-by-one while counting to enforce this new restriction. Once the store reaches capacity, customers will be allowed in on a “one-in-one-out” basis.

There will be only one-way movement in the stores once customers are inside. This is to help promote social distancing and keep people at a distance from each other while shopping.

Walmart also added sneeze guards and social distance markers in stores.

Earlier it had announced that o is not currently operating any of its stores as 24 hour centers, so that employees can do a thorough cleaning each night.

Target joined the effort as well this past Saturday (4/4/20) enforcing new rules for capacity within it's stores.

Target will monitor store traffic, and limit, the number of guests inside stores, when needed, Target said , Occupancy limits will vary by location and be determined by the store’s specific square footage.

Target said that customers would be provided with a designated waiting area outside... which included markers set up for social distancing.
