California Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that Elon Musk has already delivered 1,000 ventilators to treat COVID-19 patients. In a press conference (with the video posted to Twitter, see blow)... he said... "I told you a few days ago that [Musk] was likely to have 1,000 ventilators this week," Newsom said. "They've arrived in Los Angeles... It was a heroic effort".
It was just last week, Newsom said he'd talked to a "well-known entrepreneur" about ventilators--while Musk, CEO of SpaceX and founder of Tesla, hinted that production plans were being made.
The ventilators will be used around the state of California. A February report from the Center for Health Security at Johns Hopkins estimates that one million Americans could require ventilators because of the coronavirus.
