Manatee County Marines - in Desperate Need for a Space For Toys for Tots

You may not be aware, but.... 92.1 CTQ has worked with our local Marines and Toys for Tots program, helping kids for over 30 years. Collecting toys for local families is a passion of ours. Personally, it means so much to me, as the son of a proud United States Marine. My Dad loved the Toys for Tots program. They help thousands of local families every year.

Well, they reached out to me, because they need some help for this year's program. Here is the letter I just received (see below) ... can you or someone you know, help?

Hello…

The Marine Corps League, Desoto Detachment 588 in Bradenton Florida, as the Adjutant and as the Assistant Coordinator of Toys for Tots in Manatee County.

We need some publicity help. Each year the Manatee County Toys for Tots program collects hundreds of thousands of toys and hundreds of bicycles for children in the county who may otherwise have a very bleak Christmas.

I personally know what it is like to wake up on Christmas Morning with no gifts or special foods. My family was dirt poor on the plains of Kansas and did not have money for such things. We Marines will not let that happen to the children of Manatee County. But even we Marines need some help sometimes.

We are DESPARATELY in need of a donated space to receive, inventory, store and distribute toys from for the months of October, November, and December. We can’t pay for a facility and have always relied on the goodwill of local businesses who have an empty space that we can use.

What we need is: 3,000+ square feet of space, that we can lock secure, and have 24/7 access to for the months of October, November, and December.

We can’t pay for it but can provide a tax deduction document for the rental value of the facility. If you have such a space in Manatee County, contact Marine Mike McClain at 941-812-2987.

We have the manpower to make Christmas happen with the Marines and Associate Members of the Marine Corps Detachment 588, but none of it can happen without a secure space. Could you please give us the courtesy of a bit of publicity for our needs.

I can be contacted at Jarhead@Brightouse.com or (941) 504-3693 if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Robert Fields “AKA Jarhead” Major, U.S. Marine Corps Retired
