Manatee County’s New 44th Avenue Bridge Over The Braden River is Now Open
The new bridge over the Braden River, as part of the 44th Avenue East extension project, is now open. Eventually, the road will be four lanes .
Manatee County Public Works says that some parts of the new road, because of the extensive utility work that needs to be done on either side of the bridge, may mean parts will be just two-lanes with the other two lanes to open some time in September.
The final phases of the project include a bridge being built over Interstate 75, that is already under construction.
Once that part of the road is completed, it will then be extended into eastern Manatee County, over the next few years.
Once it is fully completed, it will significantly reduce demand on the only other two east west roads in Manatee County, State Road 64 and State Road 70.
Because “44th Ave wasn’t a road that existed in most locations, it was very difficult to build, mostly through heavily wooded areas.
The county said the road will reduce demand on the parallel thoroughfares by a combines 21,000 vehicles per day. 44th Avenue East is designed for the capacity of an additional 36,000 vehicles per day.
