Manatee County is Extending and Widening Lena Road
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (February 21, 2023) – An upcoming roadway improvement project on Lena Road, from north of 44th Avenue E. to S.R. 64, has been approved.
The project will help to connect S.R. 70 to the south and S.R. 64 to the north to improve mobility and accessibility as a parallel facility to the I-75 corridor. The project will widen 1.75 miles of Lena Road from the 44th Avenue East Extension Project to S.R. 64 from an existing two-lane rural roadway to a two-lane urban divided roadway with a wide median and curb and gutter. The project also includes construction of a roundabout south of S.R. 64 at Brower Drive/Musgrave Ranch Road.
A center two-way left-turn lane will be provided through the Lena Road Business Park. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be accommodated with a continuous shared-use path on the west side and a sidewalk on the east side. Roadway lighting will be provided throughout the corridor, and signal replacement will be required at the intersection of S.R. 64. Stormwater facilities will be provided for treatment and stormwater runoff.
