4 Teens, The Youngest 14, Arrested for Stealing Cars in Lakewood Ranch

4 teens face charges after stealing vehicles in Lakewood Ranch early Friday morning (July 15, 2022) and running from deputies from The Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:57 a.m. on July 15, 2022

MCSO was contacted by a concerned neighbor in the Harmony neighborhood of Lakewood Ranch who saw a group of five or six males in hoodies attempting to burglarize vehicles. The caller was able to provide a vehicle description of a car that appeared to be with them.

When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a vehicle matching the description drive away quickly, followed by another vehicle. Three suspects also were seen running away on foot when they saw deputies. Deputies attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on the suspect vehicle, but when the driver failed to stop, a short pursuit was initiated. It ended quickly when the two vehicles turned down a cul-de-sac and came to a stop. Both drivers fled on foot, leaving the vehicles in drive, and both vehicles rolled forward into a pond directly in front of where they stopped.

K-9 Units located Devonte Adams hiding in some brush nearby. He complied with commands and was arrested. Kelvin Johnson was located by K-9 Units in the neighboring Central Park neighborhood. He failed to comply with commands and was engaged by K-9 and arrested. The MSO Aviation Unit located two suspects (Willie Miller and Tyreak Allen) attempting to take refuge under the back covered patio of a residence in Harmony. They were also observed grabbing the rear sliding glass door. They bedded down in the brush behind the neighborhood. K-9 and patrol, guided by the Aviation Unit, located them and they were arrested without incident.

One of the vehicles in the pond was confirmed to have been stolen from within the Harmony neighborhood. The second vehicle in the pond was a stolen vehicle out of another jurisdiction. A third vehicle stolen from the Harmony neighborhood was located parked two blocks away. The keys to the third vehicle were located in Tyreak Allen’s pocket. Two firearms were located in one of the vehicles.

In total, three of the suspects were charged with Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, two with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, two with Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling, two with Loitering and Prowling, and one with Resisting Arrest Without Violence.
