Manatee County Animal Services Near Capacity and Lowering Pet Adoption Fees

Manatee County Animal Services announced In May. 2022... 445 pets were brought to Manatee county shelters, and the shelters are reaching “critical capacity” with over 250 animals available for new homes.

Thus, now.... All pet adoption prices are $15 from now until June 30, 2022 and include spaying or neutering, a microchip and rabies certificate.

Fees are waived completely for pets who have been at the shelter for over 60 days and those seven-years-old or older. Military, veterans and first responders with ID also will have adoption fees waived

Animal Services also needs help finding homes for kittens this time of year, and they are seeking foster parents. Those who temporarily foster any animal will receive free pet supplies provided by Animal Services.

All the new foster parents will have to do is give TLC to the animal they take home. June is Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month, which marks the height of kitten season. A high volume of kittens are born and often many of them end up in animal shelters.

The Palmetto Adoption Center and Shelter is located at 305 25th Street West in Palmetto, and Manatee County Cat Town is located at 216 6th Avenue East in Bradenton.

Appointments are preferred, and walk-ins will be accommodated when available.
