19th Street East underneath I-75 to Close Permanently on March 7, 2022
On Monday, March 7, 2022, crews will permanently close 19th Street East underneath the I-75 overpass. The closure is required to construct the two new bridges over the Manatee River and for the final configuration of the new US 301 interchange.
West of I-75, 19th Street East will terminate at a cul-de-sac at I-75; and, east of I-75, 19th Street East will merge into 18th Street East.
The improvements include widening I-75 from the Manatee River to SR 64 with an auxiliary lane in each direction, reconstructing the I-75 at US 301 interchange from a partial cloverleaf interchange to a tight diamond configuration, and constructing two new bridges over the Manatee River to serve as a northbound exit ramp and a southbound entrance ramp to US 301. The project is anticipated to be completed in mid-2025.
