Ava Lewis is only three-years-old, but she’s already working hard to give back to the community. Ava started a lemonade stand this summer in Durham, North Carolina and she knew exactly what she wanted to do with her profits, telling her mom, Maggie, “I want to help babies.”
They decided to use the money she raised to buy bottles and diapers for local infants in need.
Ava set up shop outside her mom’s hair salon and thirsty folks started lining up to support her when they found out where the money was going.
She recently met her goal and donated baby supplies to the Durham Rescue Mission’s Good Samaritan Inn, which provides transitional housing for women and kids.
“It just means the world to us to see a young person, three years old, that is thinking about others,” says the facility’s director, Gail Mills.
