A Teacher in Tampa, Kelli Carter and her now husband Matt Cameron, started planning their wedding and decided they didn’t need typical wedding presents. Instead the couple asked their wedding guests to donate school supplies for kids in need. Kelly’s school wasn’t in need of supplies, so she reached out to one that was. The BT Washington School gave a list of items their students could use, including everything from notebooks to socks and underwear.
The couple used it to create an amazon registry. Guests shopped for the newlyweds there instead of getting them towels or dishes.
People were happy to help and in the end, they had 70 full backpacks for students to start the school year. Way to Go Kelli and Matt!
