The grace period is over for two new red light cameras in Boynton Beach. It's the only city in Palm Beach County using the cams to fine violators.

Up until today, only warnings were being doled out to those driving through red lights at the intersection of Congress Avenue and Miner Road.

Now, violators will face fines of $158 but no points on their drivers license.

There are 18 cams in the city and three more have been approved for installation by the City Commission.

Police say crashes involving injury and death have decreased by 35 percent since the red light camera program's first five years. Total crashes are down by 10 percent.
