South Florida Student Arrested For Allegedly Brandishing Knife During Fight

Miami, FL - A student has been arrested after allegedly threatening another student with a knife during an altercation at Miami Southridge Senior High School.

According to an arrest report, the incident occurred on February 7 when the suspect allegedly sent a threatening message to a female student, stating an intent to slap her.

This led the female student's boyfriend to confront the suspect on school grounds.

During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly retrieved a steak knife with a 4-inch blade from a backpack and stated, "Touch me, I got something for you," prompting the other student to back away, the report said.

Witnesses at the scene reportedly yelled, "He's got a knife," causing students nearby to distance themselves.

Surveillance footage captured the encounter, showing the suspect reaching into the backpack and concealing an object under a shirt.

Following the incident, the school's dean of discipline searched the suspect’s backpack and discovered the knife.

The suspect was later arrested by the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department and charged with attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a weapon on school property.

Authorities notified the victim's mother, who indicated her intention to press charges.

No attorney information for the suspect was available at the time of reporting.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools issued a statement acknowledging the incident and reaffirming its commitment to ensuring a safe school environment.
