Miami-Dade To Give Final Approval To County Budget Tonight

Miami-Dade Commissioners expected to give the final greenlight to the 12.7-billion-dollar budget tonight. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava says it centers on affordable housing, transportation, public safety, small businesses, the environment and animal welfare. Local artists are crying foul as the proposal cuts nearly 2.5 million from the current 25.5 million allocated for grants. This is a double whammy after the governor vetoed all art grants from the state budget. Water fees will increase by 6-percent, garbage fees by 27-percent but the property tax rate remains the same.
