Hillsborough County, FL - A Hillsborough County man has been arrested for scaling a cell tower while live-streaming the stunt on social media.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received reports around 7:00PM Sunday regarding an individual climbing a cell tower on the 13000 block of Rhodine Road in Riverview.
The sheriff's office’s aviation unit quickly responded, assisting deputies on the ground in locating the individual.
Authorities say the man was making his descent from the tower when authorities arrived.
The individual was identified and taken into custody upon reaching the ground.
When questioned by deputies, the suspect reportedly told officers he climbed the cell tower because he "wanted to see the sunset."
Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister commended the quick and professional response of both the aviation unit and deputies, stating "Their expertise and quick action ensured a potentially dangerous situation was resolved safely.”
