"Oh, We'll Be Fine" - DeSantis Defends "Anti-Riot" Law Amid Lawsuit

Gov. Ron DeSantis is standing up for a law he just signed this week.

The governor was asked by reporters in Wellington on Thursday to comment on a lawsuit filed against the so-called "anti-riot" law.

"Oh, we'll be fine. It's a good bill. A lot of great support...good law and Florida's leading the way, yet again, on public safety."

A civil rights group filed the suit on Wednesday, claiming the law violates Black Lives Matter protesters of their First Amendment rights.

The legislation, among other things, calls for harsher punishments for people carrying out violence at protests and calls for punishment to local governments that might try to defund police.

DeSantis was in Palm Beach County to sign an agreement between the state and U.S. Army Corps to build a reservoir that will help with Everglades restoration.
