Jelly Roll shared sweet photos with his mother, who attended a recent show and met her superstar son’s “Behind Bars” collaborator, Struggle Jennings. Jelly Roll said she made it to the sold-out show at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Whitsitt Chapel star shard a series of photos on Instagram on Thursday (October 12), pushing his mother in her wheelchair around the iconic venue and calling it “one of the coolest experiences.” Jelly Roll credited his mom with inspiring him to write music. He expressed his gratitude that she can see her son perform for packed arena crowds.
“One of the coolest experiences for me is when my mother makes it out for a show,” Jelly Roll wrote in his Instagram caption. “I started writing songs because I seen how much she loved music and how much it helped her. I am grateful that she is able to see my perform at this level. She got to come see me sell out the legendary Rupp Arena in Lexington Kentucky- of course she asked me to take her to Struggles dressing room to see him. She loves Struggle to death.”
Jelly Roll teamed up with Jennings and Brantley Gilbert on “Behind Bars,” one of 13 tracks on his latest album, Whitsitt Chapel, named after the church Jelly Roll attended while growing up in the Antioch neighborhood of Nashville, Tennessee. The album also included “Halfway To Hell,” “Unlive” with Yelawolf, “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson, “Need A Favor” and other fan-favorites. Jelly Roll is currently on his “Backroad Baptism Tour.” See the highlights with his mom during his recent stop in Kentucky here:
