NASCAR Goes Green in May With 4 Cup Series Races in 11 Days

NASCAR races are set to return to the Darlington Raceway on May 17 with a 400-mile Cup Series event, ESPN reports. That race kicks off a packed stretch which will see seven total races in 11 days involving all three NASCAR national series. The new schedule also features two Wednesday races, fulfilling fans' longtime plea for midweek events. And three of the races will be at Darlington. "Darlington is one of the most iconic and historic tracks in the sport and will be a tremendous backdrop when NASCAR returns to racing,'' track president Kerry Tharp said. The other four races will be made up of two up Series events, an Xfinity Series event and a Gander Trucks race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, including the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24. As with other sports during the pandemic, no fans will be allowed to attend.
