Facebook Allows Artists to Charge for Steaming Shows

The days of concerts being streamed for free may be nearing an end Facebook will soon add the option for artists to charge for access to events with live videos. The plan covers anything from online performances to classes to professional conferences. It didn't say when the plan will be available for artists, many of whom have replaced spring tour dates with at-home performances to keep them connected with fans, or whether Facebook will earn a fee or a percentage of the artists take. Facebook will also expand its "Stars" tipping option, so a performer can receive a penny for every time a fan clicks on a star emoji. Facebook and its sister company Instagram have become popular platforms for at-home performances since the concerts have stopped, for now.
