A Florida judge pleaded with lawyers to at least get out of bed and put on clothing before appearing in virtual court hearings on Zoom, according to the Associated Press. Broward Circuit Judge Dennis Bailey wrote a letter to the Weston Bar Association complaining about how some attorneys appear in Zoom meetings. “It is remarkable how many ATTORNEYS appear inappropriately on camera,” Bailey wrote. “One male lawyer appeared shirtless and one female attorney appeared still in bed, still under the covers.” He added, “putting on a beach cover-up won’t cover up you’re poolside in a bathing suit." Broward County’s judicial system has held about 1,200 Zoom meetings since March 16. Bailey dislikes the video conferencing site, saying, "often, lawyers are not looking at their screens but down at their files, their outlines and notes, or simply out the window," he said. They "cannot see the judge is hollering “Stop! Stop!” because an objection has been made," but "the audio stays with the witness rather than obeying the judge."
