Hoda Kotb broke down in tears on Friday after talking to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees about his $5 million to help Louisiana through the coronavirus crisis. "I think a lot of things are contagious, including generosity," Kotb said at the end of their interview. "So our hope is that because you let us know you made this big, generous donation, and I think other people look and think, 'Hey, maybe I can help out too.'" Before she was able to transition to the next segment, Kotb--who lived in New Orleans for several years--choked up and began to cry on-camera as she apologized repeatedly. Co-host Savannah Guthrie, who's helping to anchor the show while self-isolating at home, told her, "Hoda, I know it's a lot. Hoda, I'm so sorry..take a moment. It's a lot. I know where your heart is, I do." Brees and wife Brittany had announced Thursday that their $5 million would go toward groups like Second Harvest Food Bank and Ochsner Health Systems, and would help deliver meals to people in need.
