Sixth-Grader Uses Language Skills to Help Paramedics

Last month In Beachwood, Ohio, 11-year-old Faisal Alazawi was on a school bus when he noticed that a classmate had passed out. Realizing that this classmate didn’t speak English, Faisal stayed near his friend until first responders showed up so he could translate for them.

Even though things were hectic, Faisal was able to calmly help the paramedics understand what his friend was saying so they could give him the best treatment possible.

It all worked out as the classmate made a full recovery, with Faisal mostly worrying about letting his mom know that he’d be home late from school -- for a good reason, of course.
