In 2016, Wanda Dench thought she was texting her grandson to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner, but she reached Jamal Hinton by mistake. He was a high school senior at the time and responded by asking for a photo to confirm it was her. When the image of a blonde woman came in, he replied that she wasn’t his grandma, but asked to come anyway.
Dench said of course and the teen did. Now, four years later, they’re still getting together to share a meal and each year, Hinton,tweetsa photo of them enjoying the holiday together. “Wanda is a really good person,” he says. “I really enjoy the time I spend with her.”
