Woman in Bahamas Rescues Nearly 100 Dogs During Hurricane Dorian

When Hurricane Dorian arrived in the Bahamas, Chella Philips sprang into action and opened her home to 97 abandoned dogs, protecting them from the dangerous storm.

Chella runs an animal rescue in the city of Nassau and knows firsthand just how many homeless dogs there are on the island, roaming the streets.

So when the storm started moving in, Chella started moving the stray dogs into her house.

She estimates that she has saved about 1,000 dogs through her rescue efforts in the years before the storm hit. And thanks to her fast action, another 97 were safe as Hurricane Dorian was pounding the area with tornado-strength winds
