The Florida Forest Service invites the public to attend Smokey Bear’s 75th Birthday celebration on Saturday, August 3rd from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Charlotte Sports Park 2300 El Jobean Rd, Port Charlotte. Join them for live music by Ship of Fools, cupcakes, photos with Smokey Bear, and free giveaways.
Displays from the Florida Forest Service will be set up where you can learn about tree health and the ecological benefits of prescribed fire, and what you can do to make your home and community Firewise. Meet Florida Wildland Firefighters and discover the tools and equipment they use to combat wildfires across the state. Over 30 city, county, state, and federal agencies will be on scene in support of this historic.
Charlotte Sports Park will be hosting the event in their state-of-the-art family-friendly facility that includes kids play area and upgraded concession stands that will be open during the birthday bash.
They encourage everyone to stay for the Charlotte Stone Crabs First Responders Day, when they will be taking on the Palm Beach Cardinals. All First responders will get in free with proper ID. The pre-game starts at 5:15 p.m. with Smokey Bear throwing out the honorary first pitch and the Florida Forest Service Honor Guard presenting the American flag.
