A dog in South Florida is being called a hero after saving his family from a large alligator.
George Woods was home in Coral Springs when he heard his dog, Freckles, barking nonstop just before the sun rose.
George couldn’t figure out what was going on, as Freckles just wouldn’t stop barking.
Finally, George checked things out and -- sure enough -- a 7-foot-8-inch alligator was three feet away from his door.
Police and wildlife trappers worked together to secure the gator and get it off the property.
George thinks that without the warning Freckles provided, his wife could have been the one to stumble upon the gator in the dark. So thanks to Freckles, a disaster was avoided.
