In West Ashley, South Carolina, a man in need of a kidney got the gift of a lifetime from a complete stranger, thanks to a handwritten note on a car.
40-year-old Starr Gardy parked in a parking lot next to a car with a message handwritten on the back window.
The message was written by Lashonda Pugh, asking for a potential kidney donor for her 24-year-old son, Daniel Jones.
Starr saw the message and said she felt compelled to help.
After getting tested, Starr learned she was a match and underwent the procedure with Daniel, who now has a new kidney -- and a new relationship with Starr.
She’s no longer just a generous stranger. They’re family now -- and she’s known as “Aunt Starr.”
