A Polk County boy is beating cancer and will get to spend this spring outside riding his bike like all the others kids in the neighborhood -- and he has the Sheriff Grady Judd;'s office to thank for that.
13-year-old Daylin Campbell was receiving treatment for Leukemia and was given a new bike for Christmas, which he was looking forward to riding once his strength returned.
Unfortunately, before he could even ride it, the bicycle was stolen. Daylin was devastated.
But now he's in remission and, thanks to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, he's going to be riding a new set of wheels. Two deputies stopped by his house last week and surprised him with a brand-new bicycle and a helmet.
Daylin's mother, Canice Jordan, said, "It was definitely not the Sheriff's Department's job to replace it, but out of the goodness of their hearts, they did without being asked. And for that I'll forever be thankful for you all."
