Back in 2017, Hurricane Harvey landed in Texas, impacting the lives of millions of people.
More than a year later, it’s still affecting the life of Bernada Baker -- in a good way -- as she just adopted the baby she took in during the storm.
When the storm hit, the baby, named Bella, was living with her dad. The storm made things impossible for her dad to provide a stable home, so Bernada opened her home to Bella -- and the two have been together ever since.
A couple weeks ago, Bernada was able to make things official, as a judge finalized the adoption in front of family and friends.
And, finishing the process before the holidays was a blessing for all because it allowed Bernada to spend her first Christmas with Bella -- as mother and daughter.
